Jubilee is based on an Appalachian song by the same name, also known as “Swing and Turn,” known to Jean Ritchie and her family. She recorded a version on the album “Singing the Traditional Songs of Her Kentucky Mountain Family,” released in 1952 on the Elektra label (EKLP-2).

This adaptation for solo piano was composed for Lara Downes 2026 album “Hold These Truths,” (Pentatone 5187581) a collection of new and old music from America celebrating its 250th anniversary.
