Program Notes:
Rob Simonds is a champion for his contemporary composers, and it was at his request that I wrote this five minute Music for Violin. Out of reverence and tribute, it begins with Bach and the same chord that opens his sonata in G minor (BWV 1001), but immediately sets out in its own harmonic direction with broken chords supporting a graceful, arching melody. Elegant lines are traced throughout, with momentary pauses that recall those earlier chords.
